A: Yesterday 🙂

Q: When is the most effective time to start a new habit?

A: On a Monday / 1st of the month/ a birthday/ a meaningful personal date / the first day of school/ start of a course, etc.

You get the idea. 

There is power to a ‘fresh start’ or ‘reset’ that you can harness for habits, to create momentum and drive.

Your brain-healthy habit may start small.

There is power to a seemingly small start.

James Clear, who I followed for a long time before his brilliant Atomic Habits book, talks about how 1% improvement daily compounds to big effects and benefits over time.

What about a Keystone Habit?

Charles Duhigg writes about this in his book the Power of Habits, where one habit could be the ‘keystone’ that cascades to other desirable habits.

“This changes everything”

What changes everything?

Sleep.

Sleep changes everything.

Sleep is a keystone healthy-brain habit.

From the brain benefits of improved memory, learning, clearing brain toxins (“flushing the brain” with the brain’s glymphatic system)…

To other mind & body benefits, including emotional regulation, immune system, nutrition, blood sugar control, weight management, improving will power.
