Do you have a regular mindfulness practice?
Are you curious about this?
Here’s a 3+2 mindful list that may interest you today.
3 Brain Health Benefits with Mindfulness:
[1] Protect your cognitive function
Mindfulness practices can enhance the functions of your brain.
Studies have shown that a regular mindfulness can improve concentration, attention, and increase the grey matter concentration of the brain.
My recent study has also shown that mindfulness can change the brain network connections to improve a neurological condition that affects vision.
[2] Brain resilience against stress
With the modern living of constant moving, doing, deadlines and distractions, it’s not surprising that many people feel stressed.
Mindfulness helps create a space of calm, allowing us to be present in the moment.
This can create a spaciousness and improve your brain resilience, to handle stresses better.
[3] Improve sleep
Being constantly “on-the-go” as described above, can make it difficult to wind-down your autonomic nervous system, from “fight/flight” in the day, to a restful night’s sleep.
Mindfulness practices can help with balance your autonomic nervous system, and assist in the down-regulation for better sleep at night.
For the above reasons, mindfulness is a key part of my migraine mentorships, that effectively prevents migraines through lifestyle and holistic approaches.
2 ways to incorporate mindfulness today:
[1] Mindful walk
Notice the physical sensations of walking, e.g. your feet, your arms, your breath.
Notice your surroundings, e.g. the shapes and colours around you.
Notice your breath as you walk
[2] Mindful awareness
For this exercise, find a leaf or a flower.
Take a moment to notice the shapes and patterns.
Notice the smell
Notice the texture in your hand
