[TT] What’s your currency?💰

GBP? USD? ATP?

ATP!

ATP is the universal currency that cells use to “pay” for every action!

Just as we need money for daily transactions, your cells use ATP to function.

And our bodies create ATP from the foods we eat.

📍How does this relate to brain health?

ATP is essential for our brain cells to function optimally.

From thinking, to the release of neurotransmitters, and sending brain signals to move our body – all these brain functions require ATP.

And did you know that your brain is the biggest spender of this energy currency?

Indeed! The brain uses about 20-25% of your body’s total ATP, despite being only 2% of your body weight!

📍3 Tips to Boost Your ATP Production

🌟1️⃣ Move to Multiply Mitochondria

The mitochondria inside our cells are little powerhouses that create ATP.

Regular exercise helps our cells to create more mitochondria – imagine it’s like opening new mints to produce more energy currency!

Start with just 10 minutes of brisk walking, gradually increasing intensity. Mix in some short bursts of higher intensity when you’re ready.

🌟2️⃣ Time Your Energy Input

ATP production works best with regular fuel supply.

Eat regular meals during daylight hours when possible.

Include protein at each meal to provide steady energy building blocks.

Avoid large meals close to bedtime when ATP production naturally slows.

🌟3️⃣ Power Your Powerhouses

Your mitochondria need specific nutrients to function optimally.

Include colourful vegetables daily – they’re rich in mitochondrial-supporting compounds.

Consider magnesium-rich foods like leafy greens, nuts, and seeds.

Stay hydrated – water is crucial for ATP production!
