During a recent podcast interview, I was asked about my BRA(i)NS® Method – a comprehensive approach to support optimal brain health.

The interviewer was interested in my concepts of balancing the Autonomic Nervous System.

Drawing from my background in clinical neurology, mindfulness, yoga, and hypnotherapy, I shared how these different approaches create a powerful synergy for wellbeing.

In my neurology practice, I frequently see how autonomic imbalances show up as various symptoms – from sleep issues to digestive problems, anxiety to brain fog.

Combining clinical expertise with integrative practices has shown me simple yet powerful ways to nurture this essential system.

Here are three practical tools to help balance your autonomic nervous system:

🌟1️⃣ Vagus

Your vagus nerve is your body’s natural balance switch.

Place one hand on your heart and one on your belly.

Take slow, gentle breaths, feeling the rise and fall beneath your hands.

This simple touch helps restore calm and balance to your system.

🌟2️⃣ Vocals

Your voice is directly connected to your vagus nerve.

Try humming your favorite tune for 1-2 minutes.

Notice the gentle vibration in your chest and throat.

This natural resonance helps activate your relaxation response.

🌟3️⃣ Movement

Walking meditation is a powerful way to reset your nervous system.

While walking, match your breath to your steps – inhale for 2 steps, exhale for 3-4 steps.

This rhythm helps create a natural state of balance.
